There’s no doubt that web design is a rewarding profession. No matter the project, there’s always something to learn; as an digital agency, you get to watch ideas being born, taking shape and being turned into actual products that everyone can see and use.
However, it doesn’t always go as smoothly as that. Sometimes (oftentimes) there are problems, delays and setbacks. These can be not only frustrating but costly; yet they can also be overcome. At the very least, agencies can take some of the pain out of the process through good communication and sometimes by making changes to your tool set.
Here are five pain points that many agencies have encountered when designing for the web, and some actionable solutions:
Small and medium-sized businesses often have tight budgets.
Unfortunately, many small businesses don’t understand the importance of design, so they often cut corners to save room in their budget for other areas i.e. find some cheap high school student to handle their web site or logo or even just do it themselves rather than hire a professional.
That’s a mistake.
SimpleReach Chief Design Officer Andrea Mignologave a talk on this very subject at the 2015 Future of Web Design conference, highlighting the business benefits of good design. To demonstrate her point she brought up the story of Harvey Earl, a designer who was hired by General Motors CEO Alfred Sloan.
We launched TrackDuck –> Slack integration over a year ago. Now after number of emails and integration updates it’s official – Slack and TrackDuck fit like glove. Of milk and cookies. Or web developers and coffee.
If you have been offline for the past year or two – Slack is “A messaging app for teams who are changing the world”, brings all communication together in one place. It’s real-time messaging, archiving and search for modern teams. We have written about how TrackDuck works with Slack before, also check out this blog posts about collaboration, remote team work.
TrackDuck allows visitors, users and team members to leave feedback directly on live web sites, web prototypes or image files. Screenshots and tech details like links, browser version, OS etc are recorded automatically and location is marked on the spot:
Here is an awesome infographic about key trends influencing digital nomads and growth of remote work. It also has a fun comparison of running a startup from London vs Bali – since our team is currently split between London, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine, so we found it very insightful 🙂
The goal of any eCommerce site is to sell, or sell more to be exact. Of course, overall customers’ engagement, loyalty and other things are important but they are still secondary and supplemental as they help to achieve the main goal (see above).
